About the Ingredients in MINOX-ve
MINOX-ve is used in hair and scalp clinics throughout the UK and US as an effective hair loss stabilizer and hair regrowth enhancer. The formula is effective to help in the treatment of male and female generic hair loss conditions.
Methyl Nicotinate
A vaso-dilator. This increases capillary blood flow to the hair bulbs so intends to increase nutritional take-up. This ingredient may cause tingling & will cause temporary reddening of the skin for around an hour, sometimes longer in some users, hence the recommendation to use the product at night or prior to retiring. This is a normal and expected effect and does not last.
Menthol
Menthol is an organic compound obtained from peppermint or other mint oils. Menthol has local anaesthetic effect and helps counteracts scalp irritation. As an ingredient in MINOX-ve and EPG menthol helps to sooth the scalp eliminating any irritation and scalp inflammation therefore allowing other agents to have maximum effect.
Caffeine
Has been shown in research studies to counteract the inhibitory effect of testosterone on hair growth in both men and women and give significant stimulation of hair follicle growth.
Taurine
A number of studies have concluded that taurine helps protect hair follicles from the effects of TGF-B1, a protein that causes them to shrink and leads to fibrosis. Amongst others, one of the studies was conducted by pharma giant L’Oreal.
Hops (Humulus Lupulus)
Hair has three stages of growth. Anagen - the growing stage. Catagen - the resting stage and Telogen - the shedding stage.
Humulus Lupulus contain high levels of natural oestrogens that may help promote hair growth and block hair loss. Has astringent and antimicrobial qualities.
Oestrogens can promote the growing phase of the hair. Typically the rate of the anagen stage of the cycle decreases gradually over time which in turn increases telogen. At this stage an increase in hair loss is experienced and noticed. The Oestrogens in Humulus Lupulus may help prolong the anagen stage which would result in reduced telogen and therefore hair loss.
Piroctone Olamine
Piroctone Olamine helps to normalise and optimise the scalp’s condition resulting in improved scalp hygiene.
Benzalkonium Chloride (ADBAC)
Anti-bacterial. Anti-fungus. This agent is also is receptive to hair fibre so smooths the hair shaft beautifully resulting in fuller looking and more manageable hair.
Citric Acid
Balances MINOX-ve into an acid balanced fluid.
Skin, including that of the scalp is in an acid medium (pH 6.5) so it is preferable to use a similar balance with topical products.
Cedarwood
Cedarwood has a very therapeutic action on the scalp in cases of alopecia, falling hair and dandruff. In France, it is included in commercial shampoos and hair lotions for alopecia. For any loss of hair - for both men and women, whether after illness, or during stress or pregnancy - cedarwood can be very helpful. Cedarwood can also be used to treat oily skin, oily hair, dandruff, dermatitis, acne.
Saw Palmetto Extract
Saw Palmetto is a 5 Alpha Reductase Inhibitor. By inhibiting 5 Alpha Reductase there is less testosterone conversion to Dehydrotestosterone (DHT). Shown to decrease dihydrotestosterone (DHT) uptake by hair follicles and decrease the binding of DHT to androgenetic receptors
